Evergreen is a dynamic voice and piano duo specializing in Canadian art song. Established in 2023 by soprano Natalie Image and pianist Connor O’Kane in the beautiful setting of Banff, Alberta, the duo takes inspiration from Canada’s magnificent and varied landscapes, as well as its rich diversity of peoples and cultures.

The name Evergreen is inspired by the evergreen trees which surround Banff—and indeed so much of Canada from Yukon to Newfoundland—as well as the idea that art is a living, breathing entity whose relationship with humans is reciprocal. The word “green” can also describe someone who still has more to learn, a fitting moniker for our collective knowledge of Canadian art song.

Evergreen is passionate about discovering and sharing Canadian art song as a celebration of the artistic excellence of Canada’s composers and poets. The duo seeks opportunities to perform both in major urban areas and in smaller communities that rarely have access to nationally acclaimed classical artists.

Evergreen has completed residencies at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and the Canadian Music Centre, and is generously supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
